Distance Learning

I am excited to learn about distance learning and how it can be used for the typical classroom. I am not sure exactly what I will be able to learn through the current course. If the pattern holds true from the other courses in this Masters Program, I am sure I will not be disappointed.
As I look through the course requirements, I am glad this class is happening during the summer months where I am not teaching full time. This looks to be a very demanding course and may prove to be invaluable in understanding the full implications of distance learning from the designer's point of view.
I recently researched the flipped classroom and even ventured into my first vodcast.
If anyone is intersted in learning more about the flipped classroom please check out the following two items. I think that this idea may help the traditional classroom become more versatile and begin to bridge the gap in the needs of many secondary school students.

  1. Mark - I have subscribed to your blog. This "flipped" classroom concept is huge and gaining momentum. YouTube is even getting in on the action.

  2. Hi Mark, I am now subscribed to your blog.

I am jealous of all you teachers! My work demands are just as high now as ever, and it seems that this course is going to be much more difficult than the first one I took :( I'm scared...

  3. I feel a little overwhelmed myself. I am glad that this class is starting now and not the first week of september, however. Even though I am not in the classroom, I am putting in much planning time through the summer.

  4. Hey Mark,

Nice info on the flipped classroom. Have you heard Greg Green speak? He flipped his school. Here's a link to a video.

This class will be a lot of work but we will learn a lot. I am working full time as well. We will make it through.
